Found my old WRX for sale online, and the listing is just factually incorrect.

It was listed as having a “STI Shift Knob and STI Short Throw Shifter”, it does not. It was listed as having a “SPT Performance Exhaust” which is false, it has a GReddy catback . It was also listed as “gently used” which isn’t exactly true either. I kept it stock but when my mom got it she did all the mods. Yup, it’s a special edition. They only made 200 WRX’s in that color.

Well of course they’re not gonna be honest about a car being tracked, thats a red flag for the smart car buyer.

This is the best sentence I’ve read in the last five years, and has single handedly restored my faith in humanity.

It’s always a bit odd finding a car that used to be yours for sale again.

I mean, everyone knows that plenty of dealers lie about their cars. But the shift knob, really? You can see it in the pictures!

I’d say the dealers must just think people are stupid, and I’m sure that’s the reasoning, but they’re also probably right. I’m sure they can pass it off as exactly what they say it is to a buyer who doesn’t do any research. A shitty practice, but the blame falls to both the dealer and the buyer. Ultimately, it’s on the buyer to ensure they aren’t being cheated though. I’d talk them down a ton for lying about it. Then again, I’d also almost never buy a used WRX. haha

Yeah, she’s kind of a badass. She traded it in for a fully loaded Lexus RC-350 that was on the auto show circuit and got it for a fucking good price(it was a 2015 model but it had no miles on it). She’s already lowered it, blacked out the wheels and grill, removed all of the chrome shit on it, tinted the windows, and got the brake calipers painted pink. I think she’s probably gonna do an exhaust on it in the future if we’re being honest. Not exactly mods for the track but it makes her happy which is the most important thing for a car to do. She owned an RX-7 before I was born (drove it every day, even through Milwaukee winters) and drove me home from the hospital when I was born in a 300ZX-TT.

I just hope some teenager doesn’t wrap it around a tree (said the guy who got the car as a teenager but avoided crashing it)

My best friend and I bought our STi’s right around the same time I was 20 he was 19...(Mine silver, his black)

Kinja'd!!!

I sold mine 6 months later because I hit a deer, and the insurance shop did a terrible job fixing it. I also did nothing but get tickets in it.

His after 1 month...

Kinja'd!!!

I had a WRX before the STi which I smacked up driving too fast in the snow a month after I bought it. People under the age of 30 should have to interview before they can buy cars like these. They would not have sold either of us one if that was the case.

I found my impreza for sale also.

I called the guy as I was legitimately interested in having it back, but it had been ruined. additional mods included a hacked up hood, cheapest possible coilovers, and zero maintenance.

They too listed a bunch of my own labours on the car when I owned it, and completely missed the mark on more than a few. Just goes to show, you simply cant trust people who talk about previous owners’ work

I had my WRX for like 3 years with no accidents and no tickets. I’ve had my STi for over a year now and haven’t had any accidents nor any tickets. These cars can get you into a lot of trouble, but I’ve done my best to be responsible.

That’s great man keep it up! We were hooligans back then and both of us made a lot of money (for 19/20 year old kids anyway). I traded that STi for my first M3 and became an adult driver almost overnight.

Been driving for a while now (currently 21 and in Law School) and have never gotten a ticket or had any kind of accident. I’ve worked hard not to be the stereotypical young guy with a fast car. My first car was an MGB-GT and it taught me decent respect for the cars and the road. I honestly love my STi and wanna keep it safe and sound for a while. I’ve kept it mostly stock and even drove it from my home in CA to school in CT, it’s kind of perfect for me.

Can anyone explain why this four year old WRX with 3x,xxx miles on it is being listed at the same as the base MSRP for a brand new WRX? I get that it’s “special,” but it’s still just a WRX... and a used one at that.

I agree people should be interviewed. But not just depending on the car they will drive, on their ability to drive anything!

The truth? Some people need to take taxis/lyft/uber or be chauffered around for the rest of their life because they are incapable of driving.
